As part of our, ongoing commitment to sustainability in 2022, we’ve partnered with EcoVadis, the leading name in benchmarking businesses’ sustainability efforts and providing a universal report to help guide our journey toward net-zero.
With over 240 stores nationwide, Dulux Decorator Centres are the beating heart of the nation’s trade decorators. We’ve been working with DDC for a number of years on a wide array of projects from full store original design and manufacture, to point of purchase display roll-outs, and more recently a wide installation of protective screens and collection lockers to support the business during the pandemic.
The bespoke collection lockers for Dulux Decorator Centres have been designed to hold trade paints in a variety of sizes and each of the lockers also features a built-in cleanup pack and specially designed shelves with stacking plates to avoid any damage to the products.
We’ve now successfully rolled out over 150 bespoke, branded collection lockers to DDC’s across the UK and the feedback has been excellent from staff and customers. We’re also delighted to have been approached by other brands on the collection lockers too and have recently started work on new shapes and sizes to suit the individual needs of other trade centres.
The collection lockers have been designed and manufactured in house here at Ripple, and they’re really allowing retailers to add a new level of flexibility to the way that their customers collect their orders, at a time to suit them.
We were approached by MKM Home following their takeover of the tile brand Brooke Ceramics. They wanted to completely overhaul their flagship showroom and trade centre based in Hull which is an eye-catching building, well known in the area and one that has been a tile superstore since the ’90s.
From the outset, we were tasked with the creative design and customer experience planning of the two buildings that make up the signature store, developing the layout and journey through the store, ensuring that the very best of what the brand has to offer is displayed in the best possible way. Our Creative Design Team developed a range of amazing concepts one of which was chosen to take through to delivery and manufacture.
The conversation then naturally lead into technical design and delivery, which once again we were asked to manage. Our Technical Design Team got to work developing the various fixtures and fittings throughout the showroom, taking into account materials, tolerances, workflow and much more, ensuring that everything had a manufacturing process. Of course, we were then able to flex our manufacturing and installation capabilities too!
We’ve just completed the first showroom building in the estate, and what a showroom it is!
Throughout 2021, we’ve been working closely with Little Greene Paint & Paper on a number of exciting projects that we’re already starting to see roll out across the brand’s various locations and stockists around the country and we’ll be able to share some of that work very soon.
However, we’ve been supporting the brand with a number of smaller jobs recently, just like their window displays across the London sites in Marlybone, Chelsea, Islington and Notting Hill, promoting the National Trust range of wallpapers.
This range is a really interesting selection of papers, with contemporary designs based on original patterns from the National Trust’s historic houses, and it’s great to read the history behind the inspiration for these designs, some of which span back over 400 years of historic decoration. Each wallpaper in the collection has been beautifully redrawn and recoloured, whilst respectfully acknowledging the traditional methods and materials from which they were originally crafted.
This job was a little bit different to what we usually undertake at Ripple, however the diverse skill set that our design studio has really shone through here. Combining foamex board, vinyl print, formed plastic and a creative mind, this triple-layered design utilises the window itself, along with the suspended fixture which gave a really interesting 3D effect to passers-by.
Following a very successful rollout of the Dulux Decorator Centre Collection Lockers across the U.K, we have since been contacted by numerous businesses across industries looking for either their own branded version of the locker or an entirely new shape for a new purpose. The Electric Centre and the Edmunson’s Group were one of the first to reach out to us to discuss a taller unit suitable for holding hoarding and lengths of cable and we got right to work.
This impressive unit spans 3.2m in height which posed a couple of engineering issues that needed to be overcome to ensure safety and stability, especially in high winds. However, the unit still boasts all the features that make them stand out from alternatives.
The simple pin locking system on the lockers can be manually controlled by the store, or remotely managed, meaning it can be as simple or as complicated as it needs to be to suit your business, no app and no expensive systems, which means that there’s no additional regular cost.
The lockers are engineered to be incredibly sturdy, anchored in place, weatherproof and reinforced to minimise damage. If you’d like to chat about your own bespoke collection lockers, please complete the enquiry form or reach out to a member of the Ripple team.
Q4 is now well and truly upon us and with it comes some exciting changes within the senior management team at Ripple. Introducing Daniel Wolfenden, the new Design & Marketing Director for Ripple.
Keswick is a market town in the north of the Lake District, surrounded by mountains, amazing scenery and of course the lakes. It’s the ideal place for adventurers, hikers, and people looking for an escape, which makes it the ideal location for a Trespass store, featuring their DLX (Designed for Life in Extremes) range and activewear, offering everything passing adventurers would need on their travels.
Having worked with Trespass for a number of years and supporting their monumental growth, the team at Ripple were called upon to manufacture a range of dynamic new look furniture and fixtures for the Keswick store, as part of their new store format roll out, embracing their brand and the great outdoors.
Over the years, we have been proud to support Dulux Decorator Centres in the transformation of their retail interior spaces with creative design and manufacturing, focused on customer engagement and brand visibility. We’ve developed a great partnership with both DDC and the AkzoNobel Group and continue to work with them on some exciting projects that we currently have underway. It’s always a pleasure being such an intrinsic part of how the brand continues to develop its trade environments and how they engage with its customers.
From their Head Office reception interior to trade retail environments and design studios, we’ve put the Ripple stamp on many DDC touchpoints.
It’s great to see so many brands getting back to focusing on their retail space. We are currently working with some exciting clients who are looking to the future and adapting their physical environments to provide engaging customer experiences.
One of our newest customers, Alchemy are taking their first steps into the retail world with their first pop-up shop, currently located at Houndshill Shopping Centre in Blackpool. Alchemy’s brief was to create a premium finished solution with countertop space to showcase their feature products, lockable storage space to hold stock as well as being easy to set-up and dismantle to move to different shopping centres whilst testing locations and audiences.
We also integrated two freestanding digital screens featuring videos of their products, the eye-catching large format screens are a great way to engage and inspire potential customers.
